About Us
Our Mission
We have a deep respect for the native wildlife that cultivated these lands from time immemorial- and whom we learned from. The native plants and animals were our original teachers, and we were traditionally taught that humans and nature thrive the most when they are taking care of each other.
We must take care of Turtle Island the way we were intended to and the Anishinaabek Land Trust thrives to restore Indigenous land knowledge to help prevent any further risks to wildlife and our culture.
Our Vision
Traditions re-lived; A modern nation that adopts, implements, and honours original teachings from its original owners. Where Indigenous Ecological Knowledge is as valuable as science, and relationships with the land become imperative to holistic health (mental, physical, spiritual, and emotional).
A Place For Everyone
The Anishinaabek Land Trust was developed with all peoples in mind. We believe learning and sharing work best in an environment in which there is no hierarchical structure. This land trust will be free from any type of overarching power or control, and will simply be a place where all voices are equal.
